Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you use rivercityshoals.com, why we collect it, and who we share it with. If anything here is unclear, email office@rivercityshoals.com and we will answer plainly.
Who we are
River City Church, 1902 Covenant Dr, Tuscumbia, AL 35674. We gather Sundays at 10:00am at Covenant Christian School Gym. You can reach us at office@rivercityshoals.com.
What you give us
We only collect what you type into a form. Depending on the form, that is your first and last name, email address, phone number, any message you write, and which teams or groups you said you were interested in. Nothing on this site asks for payment details, a date of birth, or a government identifier.
You can use the whole site without giving us any of this. Forms are the only place we ask.
What we collect automatically
We keep a count of page views so we know which parts of the site are useful. For each view we record the date, the page, a two-letter country code, the website that linked you here, whether the device was a phone or a desktop, and whether the request looked like a search engine or other automated visitor.
These are counters, not records of people. We do not store your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, or any identifier that would let us recognise you or pick your visit out of the total. There is no cookie or script involved. The count is made on our server as the page is sent. We keep these counts for 400 days.
Cookies
We use cookies. Two things on this site set them:
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel. This tells us how many people reached the site from our Facebook and Instagram posts and ads, and which buttons they used. Meta receives this and may connect it to a Facebook or Instagram account. Meta's own policy governs what they do with it: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile. This is the check that keeps automated spam out of our forms. It is a security measure, not advertising.
If you would rather not be measured by the Pixel, your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop it, and the site will work exactly the same. You can also limit how Meta uses it in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it with any other organisation. No denomination, no partner ministry, no advertiser. We use a small number of services to run the church, and your information reaches them only so they can do that work:
- Planning Center. Our church management system. Every form on this site submits here, and this is where our staff read it.
- GoHighLevel. What we use to follow up, and to send the text announcements described below.
- Cloudflare. Hosts the site, filters form spam, and stores the page view counts described above.
- Tithe.ly. Handles online giving. Giving happens on Tithe.ly's own site, not here. We never see or hold your card or bank details; their policy covers that transaction.
We will also share information if the law requires it, or if we believe someone is at risk of harm.
How we contact you
We use your email address and phone number to reply to you about whatever you asked us.
We also send occasional text announcements: events, gatherings, church news. Those go only to people who ticked the box asking for them; filling in a form does not sign you up. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or email office@rivercityshoals.com and we will take you off.
Children
No form on this website asks for information about a child, and we do not knowingly collect any from a child under 13 here. If a child has sent us something through this site, email us and we will delete it.
Registrations that do involve children (Kids and Youth events, check-in) are handled on Planning Center Church Center, not on this website, and are completed by a parent or guardian. If you want to know what we hold about your child, or want it removed, email office@rivercityshoals.com.
Photographs
Our gatherings are photographed, and those photographs appear on this site and on our social media. If you are in one and would rather not be, email office@rivercityshoals.com and we will take it down.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep what you send us for as long as we are in contact with you about it, and for our own records afterwards. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing office@rivercityshoals.com. We will do it unless we are required to keep something.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, forms are rate-limited and spam-checked, and the credentials for the services above are held in encrypted storage. No site can promise perfect security, but we do not keep anything on this website that would be worth stealing.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site.
